Reaching for the dream

Well I can't believe that I am starting my own blog site. I always wanted to have a tool to communicate my journey to living on Ambergris Caye one day. This is a good place to start.

I have done a lot of research on retiring on the island, but am not quite there yet. I am still working, as well as, my husband. We are continuing to save towards our dream purchase, while keeping the dream alive. Our dream is to live on the island during the winter months, keeping out of the snow in the midwest (Iowa) and returning back in the spring when things have thawed out somewhat. I would like to hear from people that have made the move. It seems right now that we need to be concerned about the economy in the US and how it is going to affect our savings, while not losing our focus of what we really want to do.
